This is the legendary hotel of the city. It was built in 1905 by the Christian family Eppinger from the community of the Templars, who founded the German colony in Haifa. Two sisters, Kristin and Helena, ran the hotel, and their brother Gottlieb Eppinger, who owned a horse-drawn carriage workshop, assisted them in administrative and financial matters. The first Washingtonia palms in the German colony were planted near the hotel. They are famous for their great height and are said to have served as a guide for guests so they could always quickly find the inn. The Eppinger sisters were rumoured to be famous chefs whose restaurant was in high demand among British officers. The British government of Palestine decided to deport most of the German community to Australia due to open support for the National Socialist Party of Nazi Germany. The property of the Germans was nationalized and subsequently sold off to private individuals. In 1950, Samuil Drezner, a Jewish Holocaust survivor, purchased and operated the hotel until 1978. In December 2006, the building was acquired by a construction company and renovated, fully preserving its historical appearance. To this day, it is one of the most famous hotels in Haifa.
The main event of December is the Feast of Feasts. This annual mega-holiday takes place in Haifa and celebrates Hanukkah and Christmas. But this year the holiday will be memorable. On the walls of the Beit Dagon grainer, an audio-visual performance will be presented, in which candles will be lit in a colossal menorah throughout the days of the holiday. The light display will stretch for 250 meters and with the help of six laser projectors, will create a complete image of 4,000 square meters. In addition, we provide a comprehensive guide with the best tips and locations for this holiday.
