- At some point, a cinema Naaman was located here. The first screenings of silent films in the early 20th century took place in Rishon LeZion in the courtyard of the house of Toporovsky, a blacksmith master, the youngest settler of Rishon LeZion originally from Ekaterinoslav (Dnepropetrovsk). It was Toporovsky who managed to strengthen the drill with a steel nozzle, thanks to which rock was passed during the construction of the well. Toporovsky's son named Aaron worked in the theater as a mechanic. There was a fire at the entrance of one of the sessions. Aaron got severe burns, he was taken to a hospital in Jerusalem and died of his wounds there. Only 10 years later, in 1927, the cinema returned to Rishon LeZion. A cinema was built on this exact place. It was named Naaman in honor of Naaman Belkind a nephew of Israel Belkind, the founder of Biluim. During the First World war, Naaman was charged by Turkish authorities in espionage in favor of England and was executed in Damascus. In 1938, fleeing from the impending Second World war, a 19-year-old boy named Aaron Roth came to Rishon LeZion from Czechoslovakia. By the time he had already worked for 5 years in a small family cinema in Mikulov. It was he who opened a movie theater "Tirza" in Rishon LeZion, then lead the cinema "Rishon" and later became the Director of the historical "Naaman". He opened cinemas in four more cities of the country. Today, this place is a wasteland. Roth turned 91 in 2010, the film industry moved from city cinemas to shopping centers, and only few people remember how it all began.
