מהנקודה הבגוהה של הר הכרמל נפתחת תצפית מרהיבה על כל צפון הארץ עד לגבול עם לבנון. ההרים מרחוק הם הגליל העליון. קרוב אלינו ועדין בגובה הוא - הגליל התחתון. למרגלות ההר נמצא עמק הקישון וביתי הזיקוק שנבנו על ידי הבריטים. בסמוך נמצא הנמל, שנבנה גם בתקופת השלטון האנגלי. הרחוב ישר כמו חץ העולה מהנמל אל ההר ובשני צדדיו בתים עם גגות רעפים אדומים - הוא הרחוב המרכזי של המושבה הגרמנית. החלק האמצעי של מדרון ההר היא שכונת הדר - העיר העברית הראשונה של חיפה. בה, באמצע החורשה, ניתן להבחין בכיפה אפורה - בניין הטכניון - מוסד לימודים מכובד מאוד אשר נוסד בשנות העשרים על תרומותיו מבית התה במוסקבה של ויסוצקיס.
