Башня с часами в Яффо была приурочена к 25 летию правления турецкого султана Абдула Хамида второго в 1900 году. То ли правил султан хорошо, то ли праздновали пышно, но такие башни с часами воздвигли чуть ли не по всей Палестине. В Хайфе в Иерусалиме в Акко и даже в Цфате. А часы на них мастерил известный еврейский купец из Марокко Йосеф бей Муяль.
