Meaning of the street names: Prince Street: Named after Prince William IV of the United Kingdom, who reigned from 1830 to 1837. Broadway: Originally known as the Broadway, it was named after the Dutch word "brede weg" which means "broad way". When were they built? Broadway was one of the earliest streets in Manhattan, dating back to the Dutch colonial era in the 17th century. Prince Street was laid out in the early 1800s as part of the Commissioner's Plan of 1811, which established the grid street pattern in Manhattan. Shops on this location: There are numerous shops and restaurants located at the intersection of Prince Street and Broadway, including several luxury retailers such as Apple, Prada, and Louis Vuitton, as well as popular chain stores such as Zara and H&M. There are also several smaller independent boutiques and art galleries in the area.
